KAMELOT wurde 1991 von Gitarrist Thomas Youngblood und seinem Schulfreund Richard Warner (Schlagzeug) gegründet. 1994 nahm Noise Records die Band unter Vertrag und veröffentlichte im Folgejahr das Debutalbum Eternity. Kritikern und Fans waren sich einig: KAMELOT sind einer der vielversprechensten Heavy Metal-Newcomer.
Mit dem zweiten Album Dominion bewiesen KAMELOT ihre Vielseitigkeit in der Schnitt-menge von Progressive Rock und europäisch beeinflusstem Heavy Metal mit klassischen Elementen und bauten ihren Status als eine der führenden Melodic Metal Bands aus USA weiter aus.
1997 verließen Richard Warner und Sänger Mark Vanderbilt die Band, da sie sich nicht mehr in der Lage sahen, der Band in erforderlichem Umfang live zur Verfügung zu stehen. Der für Vanderbilt als Nachfolger engagierte norwegische Ex-CONCEPTION-Sänger Roy Khan sollte sich als Glücksfall für KAMELOT erweisen. Das dritte Album Siege perilious stellte eine weitere Steigerung dar und um es zu promoten kam die Band im Herbst 1998 erstmals nach Europa auf Tour.
Das folgende Album 'The fourth legacy' war das Ergebnis der ersten Zusammenarbeit der Band mit Produzent Sascha Paeth, bekannt als Gitarrist von HEAVEN'S GATE, der zuvor schon RHAPSODY und ANGRA den letzten Schliff verpasst hatte. Auf dieser Platte, die im Januar 2000 veröffentlicht wurde, setzten KAMELOT zudem erstmals richtige Streicher ein. Eine erfolgreiche Clubtour mit CRIMSON GLORY und EVERGRAY schloss sich an, bei der KAMELOT von VANDEN PLAS-Keyboarder Güther Werno unterstützt wurden. Die Band schnitt dabei einige Shows mit und veröffentlichte Ende des Jahres ihr erstes Livealbum 'The expedition'. Die CD enthielt zusätzlich drei rare Studioaufnahmen, um eine ansprechende Spielzeit zu erreichen.
Mit dem aktuellen Werk Karma (Review) und einem umjubelten Auftritt beim Bang your head-Festival 2001 fand die Erfolgsstory von KAMELOT eine würdige Fortsetzung. Für Januar 2002 ist eine weitere Europatournee angesetzt.
